A New School Year Begins at Mother Seton Academy

The 2026-2027 school year is off to a wonderful start at Mother Seton Academy. From the moment students returned to campus, the building has been filled with energy, excitement, and a renewed commitment to learning and growth.

Our students are embracing new opportunities and settling into the routines that will help them succeed throughout the year. In classrooms, students are asking thoughtful questions, tackling new challenges, and building the skills that will prepare them for success in high school and beyond.

Beyond academics, students are discovering new ways to connect with one another and explore their interests. This year, Mother Seton Academy is proud to offer 16 student clubs, providing opportunities for leadership, creativity, service, and enrichment outside the classroom. Whether students are exploring a new passion or deepening an existing interest, these activities help create a vibrant school community where every student can find a place to belong.

The start of the school year has also brought an incredible outpouring of support from our wider community. Volunteers have filled our hallways and classrooms, lending their time, talents, and encouragement to help our students thrive. Their presence is a powerful reminder that Mother Seton Academy is supported by a community of people who believe in the potential of our young people.

One of the most meaningful moments of the opening weeks was our annual Cord Ceremony, a cherished Mother Seton Academy tradition that symbolizes each student’s journey through middle school.

During the ceremony, sixth-grade students received a white cord, marking the beginning of their Mother Seton Academy experience. Seventh-grade students added a blue cord to the white cord they earned the previous year, recognizing their continued growth and commitment to the school community. Eighth-grade students received a braided white-and-blue cord alongside their existing cords, celebrating their leadership and their progression toward graduation.

As students receive their cords from Ms. Benzing, our Principal or Mr. Andrews, our President, they were reminded that each year at Mother Seton Academy builds upon the last. The cords serve as a visible symbol of achievement, perseverance, and the connections students form with one another throughout their time at MSA.

This year’s school theme, “We Rise by Lifting Others,” was reflected throughout the ceremony. As students advance through each grade level, they are challenged not only to grow academically, but also to support and encourage those around them. The cords remind us that success is not achieved alone and that we are strongest when we learn, lead, and grow together.

As we look ahead to the rest of the school year, we are excited by all that our students will accomplish. From classroom achievements and service opportunities to clubs, field trips, and school traditions, the year is already filled with promise.

We can’t wait to see what our students achieve next.
